New pets??

ever since we saw that clever hamster at centrepoint the other day, i just can't stop thinking about keeping one.

maybe because 2008 is the year of the rat and i've been seeing a lot of those rats around be it on tv or decorations etc. plus, being born in the year of the rat, it seems to give me a special bonding to those cute little rodents.. (yes i just said that... a lot of girls will kill me for saying rodents are cute.. haha)

maybe i should get some after cny.. heehee :P

kb went clubbing last night

yeap... kb went clubbing... lol :P 3rd clubbing experience in my entire life, and this time, i actually enjoyed it.

kb used to be anti-clubbing... but after last night, clubbing doesn't seem such a bad idea after all... now that there's a no smoking rule, i actually didn't have the urge to run out of the club after being in it for 5 minutes...

and dancing with that crowd and loud music isn't so bad after all... esp after a bit of alcohol... hahaha :P

jiahong was surprised kb can dance.. eh hello, i don't dance doesn't mean i CAN'T dance ok? idiot...

reen says vern and i swopped souls... haha... cos one just ended her clubbing life, the other started... hmmm.... i wonder...

What my name means

koped this from reen's blog... 90% accurate i must say... sheesh... scary what you bring along with your name doesn't it?

What AXXXXX Tan Kai Bin Means

You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection.

You have the classic "Type A" personality.

KTV!

went ktv with vern, allan, libby, neko, kehao and jeffire on sat! reen was supposed to come too but she pulled out last min...

other than our usual "jeff chang" we discovered an "andy lau" amongst us on sat! but the "andy lau" only comes sometimes and evades us on other times... dun get it? watch the clips and you'll know!

that was jeffire's signature singing, notice the uncanny resemblance to jeff chang's voice? and here's another clip of jeffire singing gary cao's superwoman:

jeffire has a really nice countertenor voice as my GV17 instructor would term it.

so where was "andy lau"? unfortunately we didn't manage to capture that on video, but "andy lau" also happened to be our local clown/entertainer: allan koh... hahaha.. see how he clowns around:

so why is allan "andy lau" you might ask, because he sang an andy lau's song which really sounded quite like andy lau himself, just that he didn't manage to reproduce that voice when we made him sing another song for us to record. haha.

last part of today's post begins with a question: what do you do at ktv sessions when you're not singing? hum along? clap? get bored and fall asleep? there's more you can do! here's a demonstration of what you can do in the ktv room:

Dinner at Tung Lok Signatures

We celebrated my grandma's 81st birthday on saturday and dinner was at Tung Lok Signatures.

it only occured to me half-way through the first dish to take photos.. haha :P

first dish was peking duck, here's what was left of it when i took the pict:

followed by sharks fin in clear chicken broth, the waitress was saying that the soup was boiled for 5 hours:

yummy! :P

third dish was a deep fried seafood ball wrapped in a leaf of lettuce:

we were supposed to eat it using our hands. interesting huh? the inside was chunks of shrimp and scallops, too bad my phone camera's focus is too lousy...

the fourth was fish in a claypot:

it had my favourite bamboo shoots! haha :P the waitress told us the fish was part of a 70kg giant fish from the grouper family called long2 dan3 (can't find the chinese character)

erm... fish was never really one of my favourites so this didn't really appeal to me. the fish had HUGE bones and the meat was rather tough compared to the usual steamed fish you get at cantonese restaurants which i really like.

Next up was spare ribs:

not much i can say about this, except it tasted a little bit like char siew. haha.

ok now for a little break from all that food, here's introducing my grandfather's fav dipping sauce, chinese mustard:

it looks a little like your western mustard that you put in your hotdogs, but it tastes more like a blend between the western mustard and the japanese wasabi. everytime we go to a chinese
restaurant my grandfather is sure to ask for it.. ok enough diversion, now back to the food...

the last savoury dish, and also a must have for all chinese birthday dinners: noodles

i must say it was nice, just a little too salty though... by the time the noodles was served i was already quite full, i was glad to see the noodles which usually means the end of dinner. but i was wrong, there was more to come...

first up was cake cutting:

guess what? the 1.5kg cake was from prima deli... my cousin was joking that she won't eat the cake... haha..

then came the lotus paste buns complimentary from the restaurant:

i was wondering why it came at the end of dinner, usually longevity buns are served at the beginning of dinner, but oh well, into my tummy it went too... lol :P

then was our dessert:

it's actually yam paste, and sweet potato paste served with coconut ice-cream... never knew yam paste can be eaten cold huh?

last of all, came this huge bowl of unidentified liquid in test-tubes:

this was another complimentary item from the restaurant... my brother, being the coward as he always has been when it comes to food, was reluctant to try it at first... haha. then we made a fear factor home edition clip for it:

so what exactly was in the test-tube?? honestly if not for the setting i might have guessed it was some cocktail, maybe bloody mary cos of the colour. but nope, that wasn't it. it was a blend of a few fruit juices, according to my auntie there was lemon and green apple and one other fruit in it, on top of the pineapple that i tasted (it was the only fruit i could identify from it... hahaha...)

that wraps up dinner, and when the bill came, my eyes almost popped out... it cost a whooping $1470+ for the dinner for 20 pax... goodness... according to my aunt, the restaurant had customised our menu for the night. no wonder there were so many freebies... sheesh.

Clearing of dust/spiderwebs and debts

kb LOVES reen and vern

kb LOVES vern and reen

(so they can't compare who comes first, i owe it to them cos i promised to proclaim my love for them on my blog since they are so jealous of my proclaiming of my love to neko in my post so long ago...)

AND kb LOVES princess dione

(this is to pre-empt another protest of "eek you don't love me" and NO princess, you aren't supposed/allowed to compare who came first... think about those behind you... hahaha =P)

kb also LOVES neko, libby, maria, allan, yix, zong, angie, madonna, shrek, and whoever else i missed out....

last but not least,

kb loves the sun, the sea, kb loves the great mother nature, kb loves world peace, kb loves good food, kb loves chocolates and ice-cream, kb loves this, that, and everything.

(lol... what a lot of crap when i finally do blog eh? =P)

and they say a picture paints a thousand words...

kb ish too lazy to make up for the many posts that i intended to post but ended up too lazy to do so. in a nut shell, exams were eeky, hols were extremely nuah, christmas came and went, and so did the new year, last but not least, school started (yikes!)

and behold: the many thousands of words that i failed to type in the last hols....

ok i dunnoe what possessed me to put some of those *erhem* photos up here... but what the heck.....
